Trendy Tuesday

Starting today and continuing every Tuesday, I will be writing a weekly post called "Trendy Tuesday". Each post will consist of a current home decorating trend.

With the beginning of the new year come new trends sought after by the world's decorating enthusiasts. I am excited to keep you up to date with new and fun trends every week!

This week's trend: a piece of painted furniture.

Painted furniture is a trend in the home decor realm. A simple accent piece adds character and that perfect touch of glamour to a room. A beautifully finished wood piece is just what every room needs.

A coat of paint can easily revive an outdated piece of furniture while adding that extra bit of dazzle to a room. Use lively colors to create a statement piece or subtle tones to keep it neutral.

From a chair, to a dresser, to an end table, practically any piece of furniture can be beautifully updated with a simple coat of paint.

Painting your own furniture to give it a fresher feel saves you from unnecessary purchases. If you prefer to avoid the DIY but still desire that trendy pop of color in your room, purchase a piece of your own from an affordable store.

If you desire to do your own furniture makeover project, I suggest doing your research first.

Adding your own style to furniture is such a fun aspect of this trend. Your new piece is sure to be a unique eye-catching touch to really make your room pop.

Before you dive into designing or purchasing your painted furniture, decide what style you are going for. There are plenty of ways to be subtle or bold with accent pieces.

One of my favorite home decor blogs, The Inspired Room, has a wonderful post on finding your own style and taste. As I've said before, decorating your home is a great medium for self-expression. Figure out how you what your home to look and go achieve it your way!
